The Skeena

The Lower Skeena River, a Class II Classified Waterway, is a substantial and expansive river that receives numerous tributaries, including the Copper, Kalum, Babine, Bulkley, Kispiox, Morice, and Sustut Rivers, among others. As it flows towards the Northern British Columbia coast, the Skeena River is renowned for its world-class Steelhead and Salmon populations. These fish must traverse the lower portion of the Skeena River, providing our guests with the exclusive opportunity to target these prized species. At the peak of their condition, which typically occurs within a day or two of their return from the ocean, Steelhead and Salmon on the Lower Skeena exhibit remarkable strength and aggression, often requiring extensive runs into the backing.

While the Lower Skeena is particularly celebrated for its colossal Steelhead and Chinook Salmon, it also offers exceptional seasonal fishing opportunities for Coho, Sockeye, and Pink Salmon. Coastal cutthroat, Dolly Varden, Rainbow, and Bull Trout are also available in substantial numbers throughout the year.

Nestled within Region 6 of the Skeena Area, Elysium Fishing Lodge enjoys the privilege of operating on both Classified (Skeena 2) and Non-Classified waterways. Region 6-Skeena Region is globally recognized for its Pacific Salmon fishing, often referred to as a salmon paradise. Notably, Lakelse Lake empties into the Skeena River system, and the Skeena River, conveniently located just a 15-minute drive from our farm, extends an impressive 570 km (350 miles), making it the second longest river entirely within British Columbia. This river boasts breathtaking scenic beauty.

The Kitimat River

The Kitimat River, approximately 47 kms south of the lodge, offers a non-motorized river experience. Utilizing a raft, guests embark on a serene journey from pool to pool, searching for Pacific Salmon. The Kitimat River boasts its own natural beauty, with abundant fish stocks throughout the year.

Our drift boat trips cater to various species, including Steelhead, Chinook, Chum, Pinks, Coho, and Cutthroat Trout. Anglers can often catch different species during the same day, making it an exceptional angling destination.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced angler, our inclusive program welcomes all skill levels.

Our drift boat trips are meticulously designed for fly fishing enthusiasts. Anglers can choose between single-handed fly rods or Spey rods (two-handed) and receive expert guidance on the most suitable fly method for the targeted species. Fly fishing for Steelhead, Trophy Chinook, and Coho is renowned for its unparalleled angling experience.

The Kitimat River is home to five species of Pacific Salmon and Steelhead, including Chinooks, Sockeye, Pinks, Chum, and Coho. These world-class salmon species are available year-round, providing anglers with an exceptional opportunity to catch these magnificent creatures.
